The aerial platform was changed to a 3CH electric R/C model "Loiterer" and a small digital camera (352x288x24bit, memory=20 images). The camera was mounted looking directly horizontally out of the starboard side of the fuselage. The fixed-rate timer makes for completely random subjects!

"Loiterer" is loosely based on David Jarman's "Charged Up" (RCME September 1995), but with a larger-chord wing. The shutter was triggered on a 20s cycle using a circuit based on a 555 timer chip and small relay. Controls were rudder, elevator (Hitec HS-80 micro servos) and solid-state speed controller (with BEC). Span = 1220 mm, chord = 250 mm, Eppler 193 proifle, powerplant = 540 wet magnet 20T motor driving a 9 x 7 in scimitar prop via a MFA 2.33:1 belt drive, 7 cell 1900 mAh nicad pack. Duration aloft = 10 minutes typ.
